The Story of an Engishman and the Songbird - Visitor's Poem

by songbird
(somewhere in time)

it's been awhile after the big bird flew her back home
and yet her mind still stuck there somewhere
where she left her heart
where she painted her love
on a a page full of colorful memories
of a story of a songbird and an englishman...

a sweet hello in April
a friendly surprising visit
a big laugh about the silly max mara boot
an enjoyable dinner at the beautiful Lara Djonggrang...
and the first friendly good bye hug in the airport...
that brought the englishman back...

time flies...
then the englishman came back for the songbird...
warmer...closer...deeper...
and another hug and good bye in the airport...

time flies...
the englishman left for his hometown...
and the songbird stayed in her cage far away...
they still exchanged hello...good morning...good night...and miss you...

time flies...
the songbird realised she missed the englishman more...
each and everyday...
she fought back in her own fears of losing...
because she had wounded before...
she was afraid of falling in love again
although she was eager to try again...

then...
the flame between them was not like it used to be..
left the songbird wondering...
the songbird is like flying with no wings...
want to fly, but don't know how...
and the englishman...
lived with his own fears too...

they met again...
in the pearl of asia...
they looked into each other's eyes...
trying to find what they used to have there...
the songbird could no longer see it there...
there were blinking sometime...
and the next minutes...was not there...
but yet they hug each other and felt it warmth...

the songbird left in the windy and gloomy morning...
before the red cab brought her to the airport...
that last hug under the drizzling rain
was the witness of their last good bye...
he came for her to find her before...
both want to find out what they've got for each other...
they have found it once...
they have doubt it once...
they have tried it again once...
but...
at the end...
they hugged each other again
not knowing when will they see each other again...

when the taxi were moving, she only waved once through the window..
she never looked back...
but maybe the englishman never knew...
how hard the songbird tried not to show her tears...

she will always remember how the english gentleman addressed her as a songbird...
because he loves her songs and the way she sings with heart..
she will always remember how the english gentleman made her laugh...
she will always remember the englishman wiped her tears when she talked about her wound...
she will always remember the englishman cooked for her...
and she will always remember the song the englishman played in the piano for her...the Summertime...
so many she knows she will remember for her whole life...

two people met in accident
two people once fell for each other in brief
two people with their own histories and fears...
two people who made the first hello but then still have to say good bye...

when the big bird flew her home...
the songbird listened to their favourite song from Randy Crawford...

and...she closed her eyes when the big bird took off to fly her...
she has no regret....that first hello already left her unforgettable memories and let her know she could fall in love again....
