Through My Eyes - Visitor's Poem
by Jamie J. Robinson

The day I was born would change everything
Something is so peaceful inside me, my soul sings
I began to teach, I started to figure out who I was
Wrapped in light I was sent from God above
I knew I came from heaven but what I saw I cannot remember
I can still smell the hay and feel the cold of December
As I grew older my hands became full of power
The sick I would heal and the demons were devoured
The wedding of Canaan was such a glorious celebration
God performed a miracle through me that bled inspiration
I made many friends 12 of them stuck by my side
One betrayed me and helped to bring forth the day I died
My body and blood I gave to them as we dined at the table
Peter, I loved him so much, but to stand up for me he was not able
That’s okay, I have forgiven him and he brought my father glory
Women, men, and children, shouting my name they love and adore me
My people laid out palms, not long after that the soldiers were spreading my arms
I forgave, and I was judged
I preached and I was ridiculed
Before I left I promised my spirit into you
Every lash of the whip felt like each sin in every man's heart
The guilt and their sadness tore my flesh apart
Why am I not dead yet!!!! Is what I thought to myself?
My mother weeps as she looks on because she cannot help
They nailed me to that wood so tight my fingertips became numb
I wonder when will it be over, when will it be done
The sorrow of man came over me and drenched my soul
I screamed "Father why have you forsaken me!!!" I had no control
In my heart I knew that all sins had to be diminished
To the sky I looked up and shouted "It is Finished!!!!"
Oh yes I felt free, I was freed from all things that my people still go through
The times have changed but I am still with you
I was resurrected and sit to the right of my father
I hear you all, when my body gathers together I receive the honor
My crown of thorns that pierced my scalp
Turned into a crown of gold that you won’t see me without
Please keep believing, let my spirit keep you intact
Continue to say my name because I hear you
Know that I love you dearly, and one day I’ll be back
Sincerely Yours,
The Prince of Peace
