Visions of Innocence - Visitor's Poem

by Amber Wilson
(Harrisburg, USA)

vulnerability:
something now that seems so silly
every child wants to grow so fast
to make childhood the past

younger and younger
children start to grow up
forgetting play time
already starting the social climb

where has the innocence gone
what has this life done
the little girls with little bows
already making foes

the little boys with their monster trucks
just trying to make a quick buck
the old fairy tales blow away with the wind
one last whisper; one last
"THE END"

No hurry to grow up
by: Fion

Hi Amber, thanks for your lovely poem! It reminds me of how when I used to be a young school kid in class, watching time slowly passed by, and wishing I could be all grown up soon. Now that I'm grown up, I look at children with wonder and wish they would enjoy and treasure the short journey of being kids. :-)
